The Australian Women's Wheelchair Basketball team, the Gliders, have cruised to victory in their opening game at the 2010 IWBF World Wheelchair Basketball Championships in Birmingham, England over night.

The Gliders demolished Mexico 82-38 on the back of a second half blitz.

One of London’s Olympic and Paralympic mascots, Wenlock, made a surprise visit to Australia’s wheelchair basketball team at their pre-World Championships training camp in Cardiff last week.

The Australian Women's Wheelchair Basketball Team, the Gliders, lost the final of the 4 Nations Tournament in Berlin, 80-55, to host country Germany overnight.

A poor shooting percentage game resulted in Germany winning convincingly over the Aussies.

Australian Danni Di Toro and Britain's Lucy Shuker lost to the top seeds in the final of the wheelchair women's doubles at Wimbledon.

Shuker, 30, and 35-year-old Di Toro had delighted the crowds by defeating France's Florence Alix-Gravellier and Holland's Jiske Griffioen, the second seeds, on Friday.
