The Australian Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team to contest the 2010 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships in Birmingham, England from July 7-17, has been announced today by Basketball Australia.

The Australian Gliders will be captained by Tina McKenzie, whose experience with the Gliders dates back to her inclusion as a reserve for the team at the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney.

The New South Wales 7-A-Side football team was crowned national champions after defeating Queensland 2-0 at the 2010 National Paralympic 7-A-Side Football Championships held in Melbourne at the weekend.

Reigning Para-cycling time trial World Champion Sue Powell has collected her second win in the Spanish round of the Para-cycling World Cup in Segovia.

Powell, 43, clocked a time of 31:58.66 in the 21 kilometre C4 women's road time trial to claim the gold medal ahead of Canadian Marie-Claude Molnar (32:49.69) with South Africa's Roxanne Burns in third place in a time of 38:36.80.

The Canberra cyclist also won gold in the road race and has retained her world number one ranking....

Despite losing the series, the Gliders took home the honours in the final game, topping Germany 57-48.

Germany won the five-game friendly series 3-2.

 Queensland's Bryce Lindores and pilot Sean Finning from Victoria sprinted home to win the men's tandem road race at the Spanish round of the Para-cycling World Cup in Segovia.

The pair completed the 88 kilometre race in a time of 1:56:22 finishing well clear of Italians Maurizio Romeo and pilot Bruno Sanetti. French pair Olivier Donval and pilot John Saccamandi were ten seconds back in third place.

Australia has snapped the United States’ two-year winning streak today in Lakeshore, Alabama, and set up a mouth-watering conclusion to the Wheelchair Rugby five-match series between the world’s top two ranked nations.
