Basketball Australia has announced the 12 athletes who will defend Australia’s Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Team’s title at the 2010 Paralympic World Cup in Manchester this month.

Ten members of the 2009 gold medal-winning team will line up against Canada, Italy and hosts Great Britain from May 27 – 30.

Rowing Australia, partner of the APC, selected two adaptive crews to complete a three week tour of Europe, at the conclusion of the 2010 National Selection Trials at the Sydney International Regatta Centre.

New Zealand narrowly defeated Great Britain in double overtime to claim the bronze medal at the International Wheelchair Rugby Four Nations Tournament.

With the scores tied up at 46 goals apiece at full time, it took two extra periods of extra time before  the New Zealanders could find the decisive move and pushed over the line to claim a stunning 53-52 victory.

Wallabies coach Robbie Deans headed to Olympic Park to cheer on the Australian wheelchair rugby team as they continued their undefeated winning streak on day two at the International Four Nations Tournament in an easy win against Great Britain 53-37.

Deans, who met the team last year, marvelled at the level of skill the Steelers displayed as they quickly took a seven point lead in the first quarter and  never looked like relinquishing it.
