Sports & Classification
The Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Games comprises 5 sports, namely Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Biathlon, Ice Sledge Hockey and Wheelchair Curling.
Individual classification systems exist for each sport to ensure that competition is as fair as possible, with all athletes classified based on specific functional abilities.

Classification is a term used frequently when referring to Paralympic Sport. It is the system that forms the structure of all Paralympic competition. Classification in Paralympic sport exists to allow athletes with different disabilities to compete against each other in as fair competition as possible.
